David joined the Kemmerer Village team as a Residential Counselor on February 7, 1983, just months after being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force where he served his country for 6 years. It did not take long before David’s passion for sports, recreation and our youth landed him the position of Director of Therapeutic Recreation. In this position, David served the children of Kemmerer Village while also serving as a certified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Instructor for staff for 15 years and as a Kemmerer Village Foster Parent for 10 years.
David was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Inter-Agency Athletic Association (IIAA) from 1988 to 2016. The IIAA, an organization that brings sports and recreation with a focus on sportsmanship to residential facilities like Kemmerer Village all over the state of Illinois, was annexed by Kemmerer Village in 2016 and David was offered the position of Director. His many years of experience coaching, both as a father and a Recreation Director, have served him well in this new venture. David’s long-time commitment to Kemmerer Village and the IIAA is marked by his 38 (and counting!) years of service to our team.
